Mr. Gary Lee Bouldin, 63, passed away Wednesday May 23, 2018 at his home in Franklin, Tennessee.  He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on March 10, 1955 to Wade Crawford and Cornelia Mae Wiley Bouldin, who preceded him in death along with his grandparents: Thomas & Kate Sitz Wiley and Leander & Anna Schild Bouldin.

Gary was a proud, lifelong citizen of Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee. He was a member of the Gruetli-Laager Church of Christ, an attendee of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, and a former employee of the Big Creek Utility District in Coalmont. He was an avid classic American television fan with near total recall of TV trivia. His favorite shows included: Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Get Smart. Snoopy and Woodstock from Peanuts were his most-beloved cartoon characters. He was also a dedicated movie fan, and every Saturday for 40+ years, he attended a movie at the Three Star Cinema in McMinnville. For a period of time, he wrote an entertainment column entitled “Showbiz” for the Grundy County Herald.

Later in life, while living in Franklin, Tennessee, he discovered his talent for painting, thanks to the art training he received at Waves, Inc., where he attended classes with his friends. His masterpiece, Supergirl Mountain at Sunset, was sold to a collector.

Highlights of his annual social calendar included road tripping with his friend, Don, and attending Grundy County High School Class of 1973 reunions.

Gary was a friend to all and you could always look for a card in the mail from him on birthdays, holidays and special occasions. Quite often he ended his cards with the loving valediction: “Enjoy your day and have a great day.”

He is survived by his brothers, Mike (Laura) Bouldin of Brentwood and Wade Allan Bouldin of McMinnville; niece, Amy Annette Bouldin; nephews, Timothy Allan, Nathan Wade (Morgan), and Kevin Michael (Banning) Bouldin; great nieces Allison, Alice, and Nora Bouldin; as well as aunts, an uncle, and a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday May 31, 2018 in the Layne Funeral Home chapel in Palmer, Tennessee, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial to follow in the Swiss Colony Cemetery. Visitation: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Thursday May 31, 2018 at Layne Funeral Home. www.laynefuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either of Gary’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Potter Children’s Home.
