Troy Brown – Obituary

Troy Brown, 103, died Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Country Wood Plantation Assisted Living Center in Mantachie. He was born February 12, 1915, in Itawamba County to Luther Liberty and Dovie Markum Brown. He was a long-time member of the Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He logged in his earlier years and was retired from Kruger Metals. He also farmed most all his life. He was an avid bird hunter and enjoyed helping at Fawn Grove Cemetery. He loved gardening and was an expert tomato grower.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Terry Booker officiating. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy H. Brown (Pat) of Byhalia, and Carl E. Brown (Deb) of Mantachie; one daughter, Martha Sheffield (Jerry “Sutt”) of Fulton; a son-in-law, Darrell Fulton of Smyrna, TN; ten grandchildren, Tami Proctor (Chris), Kevin Brown, Mark Brown, Chet Brown, Robin Haygood (Vince), Blythe Brown (Christy), Chad Brown, Sandy Prestage (Marx), Kim Harper, and Misty Martin (Randy); a grand daughter-in-law, Lyneve Fulton; 24 Great Grandchildren; 4 great- great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lou Ethel Brown, who died in 2001; one daughter, Sarah Fulton; three brothers, his twin, Roy Brown, Marshall Brown, and Millard Brown; one grandson, Tim Fulton; two great grandsons, Jimmy Brown and Ben Haygood; a grandson-in-law, Eddie Harper; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p. m., and from Noon until service time Tuesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
