Myrtle Ilene Vandiver – Obituary

Myrtle Ilene Vandiver, age 74, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Ilene was a member of Mountain Home #1 Missionary Baptist Church and was a good Christian lady. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a caregiver to all of her family. She had a wonderful journey and will be missed by all who knew her.

The visitation will be 1:-00 – 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2018 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville, with the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Speaking at the service will be Bro. Webster Wade. Burial will be at Vandiver Hollow Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Susie Posey; brothers, Freeman Posey, Leeman Posey, Truman Posey, Butch Posey, Bill Posey; and sisters, Ernestine Myhan, Glenda Byrd.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 58 years, John Vandiver; children, Eddie Vandiver, Phyllis Bohannon (husband, Dwight), Nancy Grissom (husband, Denson), Sissy Vandiver; grandchildren, Melina Fuller (Isaac), Brandon Vandiver (Kristy), Loni Grissom, Kristin Bumpas (Drew), Jordan Grissom; great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, MaKinley, and Parker Vandiver; Ethan and Caleb Fuller; Max and Madelyn Bumpas, Memphis Grissom, Cooper Grissom; sisters, Dessie Prince, Joyce Guebert, Sue Wayland; brothers, Pete Posey, Raymond Posey; and a host of nieces & nephews.

The pallbearers will be Phil Andrews, Tony Pace, Alan Pace, Mark Green, Jonathan Vandiver; and Bradley Tidwell.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kindred at Home Hospice, Dr. Dorene Morris, Dr. Paul Morris, and her church family at Mountain Home #1 Missionary Baptist for your love and care of our family. Also a special thanks to Rachel Harvey, Kay Holt, Fred Karthaus, and Fran Turner for your care.
