Mary A. “Polly” Crossett – Obituary

Mary A. “Polly” Crossett, 94, of Iuka, MS, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. She was a long-time member of Iuka Baptist Church, and was among one of the oldest members. She loved her church and enjoyed teaching the children’s primary Sunday School class and working in the Bible school for many years.  She moved to Iuka in the 1950’s with her husband who was an accountant for Ramsey Trucking. She later worked many years alongside her husband at the tax office during tax season. She enjoyed cooking and baking and would always have a delicious cake or pie to share with whomever might stop by. She also enjoyed gardening and putting up what they had grown, and sharing fresh vegetables with family and friends. She enjoyed working in the yard and flowers. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. She loved her family and enjoyed their visits and spending time with them. She was always giving and doing for others, and never saw anything but good in everyone. She always had hymns playing on the radio as she worked in the house, and her Bible was always to be found on the end table by her chair where she sat and read and studied daily. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Marlar (Danny) of Iuka; one son, William Crossett (Wanda) of Iuka; one grandson, Brad Marlar (Maggie) of Tupelo; one great grandson, Will Marlar of Tupelo; two step children; six step great grandchildren; and two special nieces, Linda Welch (Jim) and family and Faye Tickle (Sammy) and family of Dyersburg, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Frank Crossett; one infant daughter, Edna Alice Crossett; her parents, John W. Bargery and Leaffie J. Parnell Bargery; and her brother, Joseph M. “Jake” Bargery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for 12 Noon until 2 PM on Sunday, May 27, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Johnny Hancock. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jimmy Welch, Ryan Welch, Scott Staggs, Sammy Tickle, John Tickle, and Brad Marlar.
