Evelyn Buchanan Hogan – Obituary

Evelyn Buchanan Hogan, 90, of Falkville, passed away on May 21, 2018. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hogan will be on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Campbell officiating. A visitation service will begin one hour prior to the funeral in the chapel. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hogan grew up in Cullman County and moved to Birmingham with her husband and children in 1950. She later moved to Decatur with her family in 1963 and remained there until 2014 when she became a resident at Summerford Nursing Home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and excellent seamstress having made several beautiful quilts over the years that will leave a legacy within her family. She had become one of the “Puzzle Queens” at Summerford Nursing Home and her artwork is displayed throughout the halls of the facility. She is greatly loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Mason Hogan; sisters, Mary, Alberta, Jane, Rose Lee Singleton and Gladys Buchanan; brothers, Samuel (Bo) Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, Walter Buchanan and Calvin Buchanan; grandson, Jonathan Hogan; and great-grandson, Carter Jones.

She is survived by three sons, Donald Eugene Hogan, Palestine, Texas; Jimmie Wade Hogan (Karen), Warrior; Randall Mason Hogan, Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren.
