William T. “Bill” Rawls
Bill Rawls, age 90, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Jackson, TN, he was born on September 1, 1927, the son of the late Ted and Virginia Cooper Rawls. He served his county in the United States Navy during WW II and was retired from Townsend Supply in the Purchasing Department. He attended Union University and was a graduate of Lambuth College. He was a life-long member of West Jackson Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Carl Teal Sunday school class, was a deacon for many years and a member of the visitation program. He also enjoyed playing golf and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife Nell Rawls of Jackson, TN; two sons, Willian T. “Buddy” Rawls and wife Sue of Jackson, TN and Ted E. Rawls and wife Liane of Memphis, TN and a daughter, Tricia Rawls of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Dr. Kate Rawls, Emily Dunaway and husband Chris, Cooper Rawls and Kelly Rawls and one great grandchild, Emmett James Dunaway.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 25, 2018 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Ron Hale and Dr. Hyran Barefoot officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Chris Evans, Harvey Lee Curlin, Bob Collins, Cooper Rawls, Chris Dunaway and Reidy DePriest.
The members of the Carl Teal and Brenda Williams Sunday school classes of West Jackson Baptist Church are requested to sit as a group for the service.
Memorials are requested to be directed to West Jackson Baptist Church, 580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
