Jack Alexander Denton – Obituary

Jack Alexander Denton, 61, of FlorenceAL, passed away May 22nd, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Florence, AL. The service will be Friday, May 25th, at 12:00PM. The family will receive friends at McDowell Hall from10:00 AM until service time at 12:00PM. Burial will be at OakwoodCemetery in SheffieldAL.
Jack was born in TupeloMS on July 20th, 1956, to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Denton Jr. He graduated from Tupelo High School. Jack attended the University of Mississippiwhere he received a degree in Business Administration in 1979 and received a Master of Business Administration in 1980. He was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
 
Jack and his two brothers co-founded and developed an aerial guidance system for agricultural use. Later, they developed a GIS/GPS utility method for inventorying electric and telecom field data.
He was an avid outdoorsman and an invested community member who was involved in such groups as Boy Scouts, children’s ministry, and a trustee of his church.
Jack never met a stranger, and with his wit and personality all who knew him loved him. He was a perfect gentleman, always willing and eager to help his church, family, friends as well as those strangers who needed help. He was totally unselfish. A true Christian who loved Jesus
Survivors include: his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth Estes Denton, children Neal Estes Denton and Emily Elizabeth Denton, his mother Jane Alexander Denton, brothers John (Bill) William  Denton of Tupelo and friend Mairlyn Patterson of Denton and his wife Toni and their children McKenzie and Madison all of whom are from Tupelo, MS, and Mother-in-law Jean Gardner Estes of Sheffield, Al.Baldwyn, Jim Garrett
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Lynette Denton Jr. and by his father in law, Edward William Estes. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the children’s ministry of the First United Methodist Church of Florence, AL, or the Mayo Clinic Hematology of Rochester, MN.
