Braxton Leon “Brack” Credille – Obituary

Braxton Leon “Brack” Credille, 81, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at The Courtyards in Fulton, MS.  Brack also known as “Lightnin” to many of his friends and hunting buddies, loved everything outside especially fishing, hunting, gardening but most of all running.  From the mid 1980’s until he had a stroke in 2013, he was a runner.  He ran five miles almost every day during these years only missing when he as sick or hurt.  He was kind of like the “Forrest Gump” of Belmont.  Brack also loved music, especially Bluegrass and played the guitar, banjo and piano.

Brack was born April 23, 1937. He went up north after graduating from Belmont High School in 1955 as jobs were scarce.  He worked in Maywood and other places around Chicago for two or three years.  He then moved back home to Belmont around 1958 and joined the Mississippi National Guard.  He was activated twice while serving, once when Ole Miss was integrated and the second time during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He served two terms as Alderman for the Town of Belmont from 1981-1989.  He received his salvation and joined New Bethel Baptist Church around 1960 being baptized at Barrett’s Wash-Hole on Rock Creek and has remained a loyal and faithful member since that time.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Glenn Bridgmon officiating.  Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his brother Joe Credille (Carolyn); his sister Myrtle Rikard (Bob); three nieces-Debbie Russell (Craig), Susan Garrison (Donnie) and Laura McClung (Jody); one nephew-Brian Credille (Christy) as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Audrey Credille.

Pallbearers will be Brian Credille, Jody McClung, Bo Summerford, Donnie Garrison, Alex Sellers and Craig Russell.

Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
