Eris Mae Putnam – Obituary

Mrs. Eris Mae Putnam, age 81, of Boaz, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Boaz Nursing Home following a long debilitating illness.

Service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Two o’clock p.m. at the Chapel of McRae Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Johnson and Bro. Mike Springfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethsaida Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on December 3, 1936 to John Albert & Lillie Mae Edmondson Berry. She was a nurse for many years and a loving caretaker to many of her elderly relatives before she became bedridden. Eris’s passion and therapy was gardening and growing the most beautiful flowers and plants. She loved everything about being outside especially the birds. “The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies” and Eris is now enjoying the beautiful gardens of heaven. Eris was a member of Bethsaida Baptist church.

Mrs. Putnam is survived by her sister: Vergie Ballentine (George C. Brock) of Boaz, Brothers: Billy Vernon Berry (Faye) of Grove Oak and Wayne Berry of Crossville, 4 nieces, 7 nephews and several great nieces and nephews and special friend: Joe Maples of Boaz. She was preceded in death by her parents: Johnnie & Lillie Mae Berry and Husband: Billy Tom Putnam.

Gratitude and thanks to special caregivers, Bobbie Lewis (cousin) and sister, Vergie Ballentine, and special thanks to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice and Boaz Nursing Home for their support.

 

Pallbearers will be Van Ballentine, Billy Ray Berry, Danny Gaskin, Gary Miller, Bill Gilliland and Jonathan Evans.
