Barbara Ray Cain – Obituary

Barbara Ray Cain, 69, passed peacefully in her sleep May 8, 2018. She was born December 20, 1948 in Camp Breckinridge, KY, graduated from Iuka High School and attended Northeast MS Junior College. Barbara worked as a telephone operator and in the offices of Hi-Lo Dollar Stores and Kaydee Metals. For ten years, she served as payroll clerk at Yellow Creek and Muscle Shoals for TVA and retired from the Central Office at Tishomingo County School as payroll clerk finishing fifteen years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as a faithful member of Old Union Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be Friday, May 11, 11 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Jerry Ginn and Bro. Ron Cottom officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are her spouse of forty-eight years – Steve Cain; a son – Brantly Cain (Stephanie) of Pelham, AL; a daughter – Kresta Cain of Columbus, MS; two grandchildren – Dusty Cain and Braylee Cain of Pelham, AL.; one step-grandson – Tyler Bentley of Pelham, AL.; two brothers – Terry Ray (Judy) and Steve Ray (Linda); one uncle – Edward Ray; two aunts – Ollie Lambert and Aline Moore and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lois Ray; her grandparents, Harper and Bertie Ray and Oscar and Maude Carter and a daughter-in-law, Keri Renfroe Cain.

Pallbearers will be Dale Moore, Anthony Walker, Jeremy Thorne, Sherrell Umphress, Robin Ray and Butch Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Ray and Steve Alexander.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
