James F. Metcalf, Sr., 71, of Decatur passed away on May 2, 2018. Visitation Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon at Roselawn Funeral Home. Celebration of Life at noon at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
James is survived by his two sons, James F. Metcalf, Jr. and Michael Todd Metcalf; daughter, Wendy S. Hawkins. James has four granddaughters, Elania Metcalf, Madison Metcalf, Lexi Quinn and Abbie Hawkins; two grandsons, Mason T. Hawkins and London Metcalf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Georgie Metcalf.
James was born January 25, 1947 in New Port, Rhode Island. He attended Decatur High School, where he lettered in both football and baseball. He graduated in 1965 and immediately started to work at Chemstrand where he retired 40 years later. James never met a stranger and was loved by many. James loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a great man that was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
