FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department was called to a residence on North Wood Avenue on Wednesday, May 2 in regards to a body being found at the residence:
“On 5/2/2018 Florence Police Patrol Division responded to 754 N Wood Ave on a Medical Assist call at 10:50am. Once they arrived they located a male that was deceased. We currently have detectives on scene collecting evidence to help determine the cause of death. We are currently treating it as a death investigation, we do not know at this time how the man dies. We also are currently in the process of locating the next of kin so his name is not being released until this occurs. To answer a few of the questions that have been asked yesterday and last night-
The person was located in his residence by a friend.
We are still not releasing the person’s name until his family has not been notified.
We are waiting on an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
We have not been notified on when the autopsy will take place.
The body was taken to the state forensic lab in Huntsville.
We are still process the evidence to help determine what happened.”
