Randel Ray Burns – Obituary

Funeral service for Randel Ray Burns, age 70, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, May 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Burns officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment and graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, in Grove Oak, AL.

Mr. Burns, who died Monday, April 30, 2018, at his residence, was born August 27, 1947, in Albertville, to Dawes C. Burns and Stella Hayes Burns. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan Kralovec, one sister, Beverly Burns Smith, and his parents. Mr. Burns earned his B.S. and Master’s degrees from Jacksonville State University, and his Ed.D from Auburn University. Through the years he served as educator and administrator in the public school system.

He is survived by one son, Randy Burns (Kelli) of Vicksburg, MS; one daughter, Joye Kralovec (Jay) of Madison; three grandchildren, Andrew Kralovec, Elli Burns, and Graci Burns; and his former wife of 47 years, Linda Burns of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
