Funeral service for Marilyn Strecker Darwin, 73, of Hartselle will be Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harold Fanning officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Darwin, who died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her residence, was born July 25, 1944, in Kansas to Jacob H. Strecker and Anna K. Dumler Strecker. She was a Financial Aid Advisor for Calhoun Community College and was also the only Certifying Official Financial Counselor for Veterans for 25 years. She was a member of Delta Mu Delta (Alpha IOTA Chapter) at Athens State College and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Decatur for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; twobrothers, Floyd Strecker and Leon Strecker and one sister, Dorothy Pells.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Darwin; one son, Mark Allen Weaver, Odenville; one daughter, Angela “Angie” Coulter, Hartselle; three sisters, Frances Bailey, Hartselle, Fern Parmenter, Katy, Texas and Leona Miller, Traverse City, Michigan; and one grandchild, Hannah Brooke Coulter, Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Gary Darwin, Vic Coulter, John Tidwell, Mike Sparks, Phil Lane and Todd Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
