Bobby Glen Gibbs, Sr. – Obituary

Bobby Glen Gibbs, Sr. was born October 18, 1938 in Morris Chapel, TN the son of the late Finley (Tony) and Harue Moffett Gibbs.

He was united in marriage to Patsy George on June 21, 1959. They were members of the First Christian Church in Adamsville where they loved their family church.

Bobby started his career with Frito Lay in Memphis, TN, as he progressed with the company they relocated to Birmingham, Alabama and then on to Athens, Georgia where he was District Sales Manager. In 1972 Bobby, Patsy, Bobby Jr, and Kathy decided to return to Bobby’s hometown and restore Bobby’s childhood home in Crump, TN. Through his work ethics and dedication to the company, Frito Lay gave him a truck and merchandise for him to establish his own route in his hometown and surrounding areas. In 1978 Bobby and the family decided to make their home in Adamsville, TN. In 2000 he retired from Frito Lay with 37 years of service. Bobby’s love for Antiques inspired him to be an avid collector of Gas and Oil memorabilia, leading him to open Gibbs Gas and Oil in downtown Adamsville. He was also an Antique Car and Tractor enthusiast. He and Patsy traveled throughout the South to tractor shows. Two of his many Antique cars were sold and shipped all the way to England.

He is survived by his wife Patsy; his daughter Kathy Milford (Chris) of Adamsville. He was the Best Papaw in the world to Kellie Milford Battles (Cale) of Savannah and Kristina Milford of Memphis. He was Papaw Bob to two very special Great Grandsons; Casen and Collin Battles; and a very special sister who is the glue to the Gibbs family, Martha Gibbs Davey (Mel); sister in laws: Ernestine, Lois, Kay, Martha Ray, Josie, Becky, and Diana. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a son Bobby Glen Gibbs, Jr. And Daughter in Law Betsy Tapp Gibbs; nine brothers: John Elmer, WM (Snow), Hoover, Joe, Ray, Fay, Kenny, Billy and Donny. Also, three sisters: Charlyne Gibbs Powell, Margaret Gibbs Scott, and Louise Gibbs Watson.
