Helen K. “Kathy” Van Netta – Obituary

  Helen K. “Kathy” Van Netta passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Huntsville Hospital.

Kathy was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where she lived until at 16, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to be a switchboard operator and met the love of her life, Ernest A. (Art) Van Netta on a blind date. Art and Kathy married on December 26, 1946 and were married for 51 years.

As an Army wife, Kathy enjoyed their many opportunities to travel the world and raise their three girls from Okinawa, Japan, Berlin & Stuttgart, Germany and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. They also lived many places stateside before settling in Huntsville where Art retired.

Kathy was an avid bridge player who also enjoyed gardening and square and line dancing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Van Netta and daughter, Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Van Netta. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara V. Allison (Dick), and Andrea McManus (Patrick); and her grandson, Evan McManus.

A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
