William “Bill” Bernard Burleson

Dr. William “Bill” Bernard Burleson, 79, of Muscle Shoals, entered into rest on April 13, 2018 at his residence.

Dr. Burleson was born on Dec. 30, 1938, in Brilliant. Bill served in the United States Army National Guard for three years. He was a graduate of Brilliant High School, Columbia Military Academy, Memphis State, and Palmer Chiropractic College. After college, Dr. Burleson practiced chiropractic for 50 plus years in Muscle Shoals, where he owned and operated his private practice on Woodward Avenue. He was a member of Alabama Chiropractic Association. William was known as “Doc” by family and friends. Doc was selected to the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and patients over the years. Doc loved sharing stories and talking to everyone about his grandchildren. He was a very giving man who had a generous heart and was a wonderful cook and gardener. Doc never hesitated to help anyone that was in need.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 15, 2018 at Whitehouse Cemetery in Brilliant, Alabama. Family members will officiate.

Doc is survived by his son, Chris Burleson and wife, Marnie; daughters, Robbin Pampinto and Fiancé, Jamey Congleton, and Stephanie Winborn; brother, Bryce Burleson and wife, Joyce; and sister, Wanda Walden. He was “Bill” to fourgrandchildren, Marit, Payton, Ryder, and Parker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Londa Scott Burleson; parents, Clovis and Adele Burleson; brother, Bob; sister, Barbara Ann; and brother-in-law, Howard.

In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be made to Colbert or Florence Animal Shelters or to the Honduras Mission program at Shoals Church of Christ.
