Angeleen Brewer – Obituary

Angeleen Brewer, 93, of Florence passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 ; a native of Charleston, Mississippi. Angeleen had lived in Florence,Alabama since 1946.

Angeleen was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Brewer; son-in-law, Bill Lucas; parents, Greek Lewis, Sr. and Fannie Sellers Cunningham; brothers, James, Greek Lewis , Jr., and Archie Cunningham; sisters, Clyde Cunningham Murphy, Josephine Cunningham Mims, and Priscilla Cunningham.

She is survived by her children Sharon Brewer Bevis, Rebecca Brewer Rockhill (Henry “Rocky”), Teresa Brewer Lucas, and David Ray Brewer (Beth), grandchildren, Elizabeth Lucas Wilson (David), Rebecca Angeleen Moseley (Bob), Millicent Cannon Pendergrass (Caleb), Hailey Brewer Vincent (Tyler), Emma Key Lucas, Bonnie Brewer Little (Joshua), and Davis Franklin Brewer; great-grandchildren, Lizzie Williams, Jackson Moseley, Larkin Wilson, Henry Wilson, Rachel Moseley, Virginia Little, Davis Little, Josephine Pendergrass, and John Little; siblings, Joe Edgar Cunningham and Vivigean Cunningham Dewberry.

Angeleen was a teletypist for Western Union working in San Francisco when she met Raymond Brewer on a blind date. They made their way to Florence where for all their lives, were surrounded by family, laughter, and love. Angeleeen was never happier than she was when her house was full of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

From a young girl on the farm in Mississippi until only shortly before her death, Angeleen’s hands were never idle. She was a fantastic cook, a brilliant seamstress, a skilled gardener, and a loving healer of all ailments.

Angeleen’s quiet and peaceful demeanor was admired by all who knew her. She lived a remarkably healthy and tremendously love-filled 93 years. Her soul may be departed but her spirit will live on through all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 17, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence. A service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Associate Pastor Phillip Cooper will be officiating. Burial will follow at Tri-Cites Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Davis Brewer, Larry Rockhill, Bob Moseley, David Wilson, Joshua Little, and Caleb Pendergrass.
