James Aubrin Strickland – Obituary

James Aubrin Strickland, 85, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 23, 1932 in Franklin County, AL and worked as a home builder for over fifty years. He was a quail hunter and loved fishing, gardening and being outside. He graciously provided for others with a servant’s heart. He was a member of New Union Missionary Baptist Church for over sixty years.

Services will be Sunday, April 15, 4 p.m. at New Union Missionary Baptist Church, Halltown, AL with Bro. Daniel Merritt and Gerald Collum officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Halltown, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife of sixty-four years – Bonnie Strickland, Halltown, AL; two children – Dena Dempsey (Chuck) Hamilton, AL and Terry Strickland (Cyndi) Belmont, MS; three grandchildren – Savannah Hall, Trent Strickland and Shelby Pope (Daemon); one great-grandson – Caeson Pope; one sister – Hettie Lee Pendegraph; sister-in-law – Earline Strickland and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bose Pulaski Strickland and Molcie King Strickland, a grandson, Alex Hall, brothers, Wason, Clint (Flora), Harvey (Ruby), Morris (Mary), Orvil and an infant brother and sisters, Pearl Morrow (Richard), Nettie Armstrong (Eddis), Una Mae Armstrong (Clinton) and Norvil Lindley (Junior).

Pallbearers will be Trent Strickland, Josh Curtis, Mark Massey, Stewart Strickland, Daemon Pope and David Jones.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, 2-4 p.m. at New Union Missionary Baptist Church, Halltown, AL.
