Andrew Clay Bush, 56, of Huntsville, AL passed away peaceful at his home on April 11, 2018 after a lengthy illness.  Andrew is survived by his mother, Ethel Bush of Huntsville; two brothers, Thomas A. Bush of Huntsville and Stephen B. Bush and wife, Peggy; twin nephews, Finn and Jack Bush, of Orlando, FL; and many cousins.  Andrew was predeceased by his father, James Hilson Bush of Huntsville.

Andrew was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years.  He attended twelve years of Huntsville Achievement School at First Baptist.  He was a volunteer at the Christian Life Center at First Baptist for many years, and he also served as a volunteer at the Welcome Center.  Andrew welcomed visitors to the church with his great smile and directed them to where they wanted to go.  The regular members of the church looked forward to being welcomed by Andrew’s smiling face whenever they went to church.

One of Andrew’s proudest days was when he was made an honorary firefighter of the City of Huntsville and given a proper badge, a fireman’s hat with his name on it and an official shirt.  During the many years that he was a volunteer at the Christian Life Center, Andrew got to know the firefighters who used the facility for recreational sports, and the firemen got to know Andrew and made him an honorary fireman.  During ceremonial appearances such as parades, Andrew rode in the firetruck with the firemen.  Andrew was so proud to be an honorary fireman and an Ambassador of Good Will for the City of Huntsville, and he represented the City of Huntsville with honor.

Andrew loved to travel, especially to his favorite city, London, England.  He really looked forward to his annual trip to New York with his mother, Ethel, where they toured the theaters and current plays.

Funeral services for Andrew will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, April 16, 2018.  Visitation will begin at 10:30 with the funeral service following at 12:00 noon.  The service will be conducted by Dr. Travis Collins, Pastor, and Associate Pastors Jud Reasons, Mark Seanor, and Mike Pearce.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery under the direction of Laughlin Service Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Mosaic Fund or Huntsville Firefighter’s Benevolent Fund, 2606 Artie St., SW, Huntsville, AL 35805.
