UPDATE:  Steven Brooks the fugitive from Florida that eluded capture in Madison County Alabama is deceased after an encounter with Police in South Strabane Pennsylvania. Stolen Limestone County Truck was in his possession at the time of the encounter.

MADISON COUNTY-ON Thursday, April 12 the Madison County Sheriff’s Office  issued a BOLO on a suspect wanted for murder in Florida:

“The subject sought in connection with the ongoing Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigation in the Harvest Community (Loganberry Lane).

Steven Brooks , B/M, dob 10/03/1972, 5’8”, 210lbs, last seen wearing black pants and a black over brown shirt.

Brooks has an active outstanding warrant for the crime of murder stemming from Pinellas County Florida. At this time he remains at large in the Harvest Community.

Last seen at Yarborough Road and Love Branch Road.

Please forward any and all information regarding his whereabouts to the

Sheriff’s Office 2567227181.

On Wednesday, April 11 the Madison County Sheriff’s Office began searching for a man suspected of murder.”

Last seen in the area of the perimeter where Steven Brooks was last seen after crashing the vehicle he was driving. Smith Vasser to east, County Line west and Yarborough north. If you have contact w/Suspect contact dispatch at 2567227181.

What we know:

Police say 45-year-old Steven Brooks has an outstanding warrant for the crime stemming from Pinellas County, Florida.

Around 9:00 PM Wednesday night law enforcement were on  Logan Berry Lane and Shortleaf Lane in Harvest. The suspect was seen in the area.  The suspect barricaded himself in a house there.

Authorities say the vehicle the man drove away in was stolen from the house where he was barricaded.  It is believed he may have set the car on fire near the Limestone County prison as a distraction, and ran off into the woods.

The Madison Police Department, as well as the Huntsville Police Department are assisting in the search.
