Corrine Nellums Richardson went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 8, 2018, a place she actively prepared to ascend to her entire life. Born January 30, 1931, to Bert Dean Nellums and Nannie Lou Floyd Nellums in Santa Fe, Tennessee, she graduated Santa Fe High School in 1949 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a secretarial career. While there, she was introduced to the love of her life, Shelley H. Richardson, Jr, by her late brother, James Nellums. After a short courtship, they wed in 1955 and were happily married for 51 years. After her husband retired from military service with the U.S. Army, they settled in Decatur, Alabama, and became active members of Central Park Baptist Church and later Parkview Baptist Church. Mrs. Richardson began working at Redstone Arsenal in the Office of Finance and Accounting in 1960 until her retirement in 1990 after 30 years of service. After retirement, Mrs. Richardson enjoyed traveling with her husband who preceded his wife in death in 2007. Also preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters, Eunice Nellums Riggs, James Nellums, Larissa Nellums Birkholz, Polly Nellums Hambrick and Hugh Todd Nellums.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by one sister-in-law, Lana Richardson McNair of Fairhope and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews residing across the country. Nieces and nephews include: Donna Nellums Kumar of Smyrna, Tennessee; June Nellums Gaskill of Williamsport, Tennesse; Laura Riggs Mitchell of Glen, New Hampshire; Marie Riggs Graves of Portland, Tennessee; Randall Riggs of Gallatin, Tennessee; Carol Hambrick, Debra Hambrick Melvin, Gwendolyn Hambrick Lucas and Kathryn Hambrick Lovett, all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Melinda Nellums of New Hope, Kentucky; Robert Nellums of Louisville, Kentucky and Donald Dean Nellums of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Parkview Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank Mr. Tom Randall (retired) and Mr. Larry Layne of the Alabama Baptist Foundation, the nursing and care staff of Limestone Health Facility of Athens, and the nursing and care staff of the Hospice of Limestone County for their loving care of Mrs. Richardson. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Limestone County or the Parkview Baptist Church building fund.
