Michael A. Davis – Obituary

Michael A. Davis, 77, passed away surrounded by his family on April 6, 2018.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Ben and Yvonne Davis. He graduated from Allen Park High School and attended Ferris State University. He was employed by Great Lakes Steel for 14 years before leaving the snow and cold of Michigan for the warmth of Decatur, Alabama. He went on to work for General Motors in their Argonaut Division for 28 years. He travelled and lived in many states, as he was in charge of plant construction and later construction rehabilitation/maintenance for GM.

He was a Master Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and boating. He was a people person who never met a stranger and helped others in many ways.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Yvonne (Dalton) Davis, He is survived by his loving spouse, Kathleen Davis; his children, Michelle (John) Baker, of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael A. Davis II (Julie), of Decatur, Tiffany (Dustin) Hart, of Clayton, Indiana; stepchildren, Leah (Rich) Ruuti, and Robert (Jamie) Mosqueda; grandchildren, Ben, Michael, Joshua, Caleb, and Luke Baker, Dalton and Hank Davis, Davis and Cora Jayne Hart, Kaitlin Doornbos, Jake Marsman, and Nathan and Travis Mosqueda.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ridout-Brown Service Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 10th. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Decatur General Lights of Love or a charity of your choice.
