James “Jamie” Edmond Hayden, Jr., age 50, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jamie was born on January 20, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James Edmond Hayden and Anna Mae Klaber Hayden. He was the loving husband to Melissa Dean Hayden for twenty-nine years. Having a desire to serve people, Jamie began his working career in the funeral industry, becoming an apprentice funeral director and embalmer. His desire to serve people on a personal level, also resulted in his attending nursing school before the first of his many health battles occurred. He later transitioned to working in rock quarries, and then he worked for fifteen years at the LaVergne Water Treatment Plant, becoming a certified treatment plant operator. He also worked at the Columbia Water Treatment facility for a short time.

Jamie was a loving man, never having a negative word to say about anyone. Even during the most difficult days of his battle with cancer, he never complained and he never met a stranger. His smile was contagious and he loved everyone. He was an appreciative person, never failing to say express his thanks when a meal was cooked for him, or any act of kindness was received. His daughter, Allie, remembers that he had a real sweet tooth, and enjoyed his “treats”. One of his favorite past-times was going to the store and talking with anyone he met, especially loving to meet veterans and babies. His wife and family recall that there are no words kind enough to describe their wonderful husband, father, son and brother.

Left to cherish Jamie’s memory is his adoring wife: Melissa Hayden; father and step-mother: James Edmond and Shirley Fogg Hayden; daughter: Allie Hayden; brother: Ryan Hayden; step-siblings: Sherry Fogg (Scott) Arnold and Guy Fogg; special friends: Joshua Durham, Molly Watt and Rufus Hayden; and the loves of his life: his beagle dog, Goose and his two other dogs: Sissy and Max. He was preceded in death by his mother: Anna Mae Klaber Hayden and grandmothers: Evelyn Hayden and Elda (Clyde) Klaber;

A Celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at Maury Hills Church at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 with Scott Arnold and Troy Klaber officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. service time.

The family requests that in honor of Jamie, you please do something for your loved one that will make them smile.

Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.williamsfh.com.
