JASPER-Wheeler Pounds will premier his new series at a book signing on April 8, 2018 at the Jasper Public Library, 98 18th Street East, Jasper, Alabama 35501. The book series, Secrets of the Cherokee Hideaway, features Raleigh Walker, a young man of Cherokee decent, who journeys down a path of discovery that he never expected.

The first book in the series is The Cherokee Hideaway (ASIN: B008RQA67Q). On a hike into the forbidding Sipsey Wilderness, Raleigh Walker discovers some rather interesting artifacts related to the Indian Removal Act during the 1830s. Barely making it out of the forest, he decides to go looking for more information and stumbles across a fascinating woman with a family whose Cherokee background seems strangely tied to the mystery he unearthed in the woods. The Cherokee Hideaway, as well as the other two books in the series, The Cellar Vault and The Spy Sanctuary, can be found on amazon.com and at Books-A-Million.

Wheeler Pounds was born and raised in North Alabama. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Harding University and a Masters from Troy University. He worked with the Cedar Creek Church of Christ for four years and the Tubbs Church of Christ for 36 years. He retired from the State Board of Pardon and Paroles and taught as an adjunct instructor in Criminal Justice for Faulkner University. Pounds has served on and chaired a number of boards, including the Red Cross, Indian Creek Youth Camp, the Health Department’s Home Care, and Providence Water Authority. Pounds is currently the chief of the Blue Clan of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama.
