Jennell Kennedy Trulove – Obituary

Jennell Kennedy Trulove, 90, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at The Carrington Nursing Center, having lived at the BeeHive Homes of Starkville for the past three years. She was born April 2, 1928 in Marion County, AL. Jennell retired from Red Bay Elementary School where she taught first grade for thirty-nine years. She began her teaching career in Mississippi teaching seven years at Oakland and Banner before coming to Red Bay.  She was a talented artist in oil and watercolor painting with many commissioned works of local landmarks. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ.

Services will be Saturday, April 7, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with David Thorn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Golden, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are one son – Hermon Earl Trulove (Audrey); one daughter –  Jona Trulove Thorn (David); grandchildren – Donald Reid (Patricia), Tracy Reid, Todd (Bronwyn), Katie Thorn Dennis (Frank), Sarah Thorn (Stacey), Russell Thorn (Candice), Matthew Thorn and Stefanie Trulove Belcher (James); step-grandchildren – Wayne Scarbrough (Jessica) and Brad Scarbrough (Katie); great-grandchildren – Bailee Reid, Garret Reid, Jaben Belcher, Journey Belcher, Joah Belcher, Andrew, Johnathan Thorn Dennis, Nathaniel Trulove Dennis, Samantha Stacey and Brittany Trulove; step-great-grandchildren – Makenzie Scarbrough, Presley Scarbrough, Avery Scarbrough, Addy Scarbrough, Dean Scarbrough, Dawson Scarbrough and Kaleb Hampton-Klar.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Virgle Earl Trulove, a daughter, Sandra Trulove Reid; son-in-law, Jimmy Reid; her parents, William Jessie Kennedy and Lula Marie Crowder Kennedy and a brother, Clifford Kennedy.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wilson, O.L. Robinson, Danny Pearson, Russell Thorn, Matthew Thorn, Frank Dennis, Phillip Collier and Donald Reid.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
