Basil Richard Kennedy – Obituary

Basil Richard Kennedy, 81, formerly of Tremont, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his home in Iuka. He was born February 26, 1937, to Houston Wilson Kennedy and Amy Lera Upton Kennedy Hankins. He was a factory worker who retired from Nautic Star in Amory. He was a member and deacon of Kennedy’s Chapel Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Eddie McMillen officiating. Burial will be in the Kennedy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sarah K. Kennedy; two sisters, Debbie Kennedy of Hatley and Brenda Pate of Amory; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Verne Kennedy; his sons, Charles Allen Kennedy and Richard Burton Kennedy; two brothers, Russell Kennedy and Eugene Kennedy; one sister, Pam Leathers; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Dabbs, Richard Kennedy, Keith Wilburn, Chandler Ray, Skyler Ray, Tim Scott, Wesley Matthews, and Bradley Kennedy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at the funeral home.
