Rayburn Curtis “RC” Flatt, 78, of Moulton, passed away Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Rayburn was born on Sunday December 24, 1939 to Benjamin Paris and Lillian Eron Flatt in Lawrence County, Alabama. He grew up with one brother and four sisters.
RC married Mary Stricklin on October 19, 1963. They shared over 54 years together raising four children, three daughters and one son. RC built a life together with his wife and children in the home he built and lived in until his death. RC provided for his family by working commercial construction. He enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, feeding his animals, and cheering on Auburn football. His family can attest to his love of woodworking. From shelfs and nightstands to birdhouses and mirror mantles, many loved ones have gifts he built especially for them which will now be treasured as priceless pieces framed in love.
Dad coached his son, Rayburn Junior’s, baseball team in earlier years and liked pitching horse shoes. RC always had a talent for playing music, especially the piano. He’d pick out old hymns like “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” andHank Williams songs, sometimes singing along in that wonderful, distinct voice of his.
Pawpaw played a huge part in his grandchildren’s lives. Some favorite actives with his grandchildren included fishing, riding four wheelers, watching them play ball, and of course, teasing and lots of hugs.
Rayburn Curtis “RC” Flatt, was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. His legacy is entrusted to: his wife of 54 years, Mary Flatt; his children: Shelia E. Terry, Veeda K. Kelley (deceased), Rayburn Curtis Flatt, Jr. (Beverly), and Kimber Leighann (Pierce) Loosier; seven grandchildren: Joseph Terry, Jason Davis (Priscilla), Rebekah Meadows (James), Jaclyn Jennings (Drew), Nathan Flatt, Ashlyn Blankenship, Austin Blankenship, Ivy Loosier, and four great-grandchildren: Shane, Michael, Brookelynn, and Palmer. Three sisters, Gurley Davis, Barbara Glover, and Darlene Troutman.

Services are set for Thursday, April 5th at Parkway Funeral Home, conducted by Chris Godbee. Visitation for family is12 noon, followed by public visitation at 1pm, funeral at 2pm.
Burial at Moulton Memorial Gardens.
