William Truett Allison died peacefully February 28th, 2018 at the age of 79.
Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at the Hamilton Church of Christ. Burial in Hamilton Memory Gardens, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.
Brother Allison is survived by his loving wife Shelby Addison Allison and his children Bryon (wife, Sharon) Allison, and Pamela (husband, Joe) Payne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna (husband, Nathan) McGriff, Candace Allison, Jon Marc Larson and his great-granddaughter Perri McGriff; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his love of God and family, “W.T.” had a passion for fishing, bird hunting, carpentry and Auburn football. Over the course of his life, William Truett Allison, affectionately known as “W.T.”, charted the course of his family’s life as a devout, Godly, Christian man. Beginning at a young age, “W.T.” lived a life full of a passion to do God’s work, accomplishment and integrity. Before meeting the love of his life Shelby, “W.T.” excelled as a student and athlete at Hamilton High School. After high school and prior to committing himself to doing the Lord’s work for the rest of his career, “W.T.” attended Auburn University where he studied Architecture. After working a couple of jobs including a stint at 3M, “W.T.” committed himself to the Lord’s work and became a full-time Minister in 1963 in Detroit, AL. After serving at Detroit Church of Christ for five years, “W.T.” and Shelby took their ministry to Sage Ave. Church of Christ in Mobile, AL. before returning to Hamilton, AL in 1970. As the Minister of the Hamilton Church of Christ, “W.T.” helped guide the congregation to new heights including building a new facility in 1982. In 1988, “W.T.” moved back Mobile, AL. where he served as the Minister at Creekwood Church of Christ until 2003. After a short stint as Minister in Summerdale, AL. at Summerdale Church of Christ, “W.T.” returned to his roots in Marion County, AL. where he served as Minister at Guin Church of Christ and Sulligent Church of Christ. His accomplishments in the pulpit are remarkable. Over the course of his 50+ year career in the pulpit, “W.T.” preached in almost every state and around the world. He became known as one of the most well-respected Church of Christ Ministers in the country. While his accomplishments in the pulpit has brought him a lot of public notoriety, his greatest accomplishment is knowing he was able to speak the Word of God to thousands.
