Henry John Hemmen, Jr., 89, of Florence, passed away March 18, 2018 at his home. Mr. Hemmen was a retired welder for Monsanto and a member of Shiloh Church of Christ.

Mr. Hemmen is survived by his wife, Velma Hines Hemmen; daughter, Vickie Lynn Hemmen Marbut; sister: Mary Olive; grandchildren, Chris Hemmen, Angie McClendon, Carrie Tyler; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry John Hemmen, Sr. and Maddie Farris Hemmen; son, John Michael Hemmen; stepmother, Annie Hemmen; brother, William Hemmen, Sr.; sisters, Josephine Derryberry and Rita Gieske.

Visitation will be today, March 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Brother Howell Bigham, Brian Smith and Wesley Ayers officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Shoals or Shiloh Cemetery Fund.

Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
