Charles “Butch” Stevenson Ball – Obituary

Charles “Butch” Stevenson Ball, of Rogersville, born September 8, 1947. He went to his heavenly home March 15, 2018. Services 1 p.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home in Athens, visitation 11 a.m. until service at the funeral home with burial in Civitan Cemetery, Rogersville, with fully military honors and a dove release. Bro. Rickey Green officiating.

Charles served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, where he received The Purple Heart honor. He worked at IP (Champion) for 15 years, built houses, and worked on just about anything. He was a Christian, a devoted husband of many years, loving father, had a love for corvettes, animals and a dear friend to many.

Mr. Ball is survived by wife, Patricia Barnett Ball of Rogersville; daughter, Christa Ball (Juli) of Decatur; son, Casey Ball (Mollie) of Rogersville. Special sister-in-law, Shelia Barnett of Rogersville; sister, Mary Nichols (Roger); brother, Ernie Ball. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Edna Merle Ball; brothers, Billy Joe Ball, Jimmy Ball, G.W. Ball; sister, Martha Cates.

Pallbearers Cecil Whitt, Jerry Cole, Rickey Butler, George Mobley, Steve Ball, Ray Allen and Keith Masonia. Veterans serving as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice of Lauderdale County, Rogersville Volunteer Responders, Shoals Ambulance Service and Bro. Pat Driskell. Contributions can be made to VFW and St. Jude Children’s Research.
