David Leon Montgomery, 76, of Florence, passed from this life on March 14, 2018. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will be Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with his son, Brother Keith Montgomery and Brother Jimmy Shields officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Montgomery was a faithful member of Stateline Baptist Church in Iron City, Tennessee. He was a member of EDGE & TA, a former member of the Cloverdale Lions Club, the Shoals Flywheelers, Southland Flywheelers, Wayne County Historical Society, and a former member of the Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Martha Ann Wilkes Montgomery; children, Melissa Ann Bailey (Randy) and David Keith Montgomery (Stephanie); grandchildren, Ashley N. “Nikki” Bailey, Chad A. Bailey, Brandi L. Guild, Kimberly L. Lacy, Ashley C. Wright (Scottie), David E. Montgomery (Brenna), Keisha R. Montgomery Torres (Jon) and L. Hope Lacy; and sister, Verlon Ruth Vickry; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David E. Montgomery, Chad A. Bailey, Jon Torres, Scott Patton, Clay Craig and Scottie Wright. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Hayes, Charles Miller, Billy Townsend, Ottie Joe Smith, Harley Holt, Billy Bailey, Larry Berry and Randy Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freewill Baptist Children’s Home in Ethridge, Alabama. The family would like to express their appreciation to Alacare Hospice, especially Suzann O’Neal and Violet Wilson.
