Florence, Alabama – J. Nathan Campbell and The Shoals Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the opening of the newest Edward Jones office located  at 454 North Pine Street in downtown Florence with a ribbon cutting ceremony  In attendance were Edward Jones Advisers and staff, invited guests and members of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.

Edward Jones is a nationally know investment firm with over 11,000 offices world wide. While being a large firm, Edward Jones has a core belief that personal relationships is the key to their success. Just call them old-fashioned, but the face-to-face approach has been proven time and time again to be the key to customer satisfaction. Edward Jones is known to take the long-term view on investments by choosing companies that they believe have proven, solid and stable track records. While other investment firms recommend all the trendy stocks and encourage frequent buying and selling, Edward Jones takes the time to identify their clients lifetime goals and develop a plan to achieve those dreams by investing wisely. As a Edward Jones financial advisor, Nathan’s goal is to provide quality, long-term investment opportunities that include a broad mix of municipal, government and corporate bonds; mutual funds; common stocks; and tax-advantaged securities.

Until the mid-1950s, Edward Jones looked much like any other investment brokerage firm.  However, in 1955 Edward D. “Ted” Jones Jr., son of the firm’s founder, brought to life his vision of how investments should be delivered to individuals. His experience convinced him that when important financial decisions are involved, most individuals prefer to work face-to-face with a trusted professional like Nathan.

Starting with the first branch office in Mexico, Missouri, Ted Jones devoted his energy to building a network of small neighborhood offices, each run by a single Financial Adviser and full-time support person, the Branch Office Administrator (BOA). The mission of each of those offices was the same – to provide quality investments and personal service to investors in the local community.  Back in St. Louis, the home office was organized in a hub and spoke manner to provide branches with technological, marketing and operations support.

By 1980, there were more than 300 Edward Jones branch offices when John Bachmann succeeded Ted Jones as the firm’s managing partner. Under John’s leadership, and continued focus on a strategic approach to investing, growth of the branch office network has continued. In 1994, the firm expanded into Canada, and today they are the nation’s only major financial services firm that retains a partnership form of ownership.
