Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Lloyd H. Elliott, Sr., age 97 ½. Mr. Elliott passed away at Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center march 12, 2018. A lifelong farmer in the Duncantown Community of Estill Springs, Mr. Elliott earned a degree from the University of Tennessee in agri-business, thanks to the G I Bill. He moved back home, where he taught veteran’s farming techniques, ran tests for the extension office and raised hogs until his retirement. Mr. Lloyd Elliott was the first in this area to get 150 bushels of corn from an acre. Friends appreciated many things about Mr. Elliott, including his great garden. In the summer harvest, Mr. Elliott often filled a wagon with produce and pulled it behind his four-wheeler delivering cantaloupes and watermelons to his neighbors. Mr. Elliott was an active member of the Prairie Plains United Methodist Church and the Estill Springs United Methodist Church. Mr. Elliott will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, work ethic and his way with people. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Smith Elliott; son Dr. Lloyd Elliott, Jr. and a stillborn daughter, Mary Catherine Elliott. Siblings who predeceased him were Verl, J.W. Raymond, Earl, Ernest, Roy, Willa Dene, Estill Elliott and Vicie Elliott Weaver. He is survived by his sister, Irene Elliott Kilby; twin grandsons, Ben and Jack Elliott; daughter-in-law, Laura Benton Elliott; special nephew and niece, Ray & Elaine Weaver and a large extended family. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Friday March 16, 2018 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson Chapel at 3 p.m. Saturday March 17, 2018 with Rev. Dewey Smith and Rev. John Lloyd Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Watson-North Memorial Park with nephews, Ronnie Elliott, Jamie Weaver, Derek Elliott, Duane Kilby, Kevin Weaver and Lonnie Weaver serving as pallbearers.
