Billy Charles Burney – Obituary

Billy Charles Burney, 76, formerly of Killen, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at North Carolina Church of Christ in Killen with Mr. Charles Kretcher officiating. Burial will follow in North Carolina Cemetery in Killen. The family will receive friends from tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 11 am. to 1 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sophronia Burney; son, Phillip (Annette) Burney; daughter, Samantha (Anthony) Wininger; grandchildren, Emma Burney, Ethan Wininger; stepgrandchildern, Tyler Wininger, Mara Blalock, Sawyer Blalock; brothers, Donald (Mary Ellen) Burney, Jackie (Anita) Burney; mother-in-law, Mary Perryman; brother-in-law, Junior Redding; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Burney; parents, Floyd and Georgia Burney; sister, Janie Redding; and father-in-law, Ernest Perryman.

Mr. Burney graduated from Rogers High School, served in the United States Army, was a member of Carpenter’s Local No. 72, and was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ.
