Johnny Wayne Akins, age 69, of Lewisburg, Tennessee passed away on March 10, 2018 at his residence.

Johnny was born on September 7, 1948 to the late Willard and Rosa Belle Akins in Five Points, Tennessee. He married his beloved wife of 47 years, Margaret “Ellen” Akins in 1970. Together they had three children, Michelle, Rosa Lynn and Gary Wayne. Johnny had a work ethic that was admirable. He could tell you a story that would make you laugh until you were breathless. He loved to fish and seemed to be able to catch fish even when no one else could catch anything. He loved his friends and family more than anything; He was a good provider to his family and loved them to the moon and back. He lived an honorable life. Johnny’s last words came in the form of laughter which is the way he lived his life and it’s only appropriate that it is the way he left his family.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 47 years: Margaret Akins; children: Michelle (David) Wilhite, Rosa Lynn Akins and Gary Wayne Akins; grandchildren: Crista, Breana and Joah Wilhite; sister: Vicki Akins Staggs; brother: Sam Akins and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Joe, Kenneth, and Nick Akins.

The Akins family will visit with friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant and again on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Interment will follow at Pisgah Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jim Barnhill, Chad Horton, David Wilhite, John Sparks, Adam Akins and Bill Nevills. Honorary Pallbearers are Joah Wilhite and Adam “Lil man” Akins II.
