Jesse Harold Thornton – Obituary

Mr. Jesse Harold Thornton, 90, of Florence, passed away March 9, 2018. He was a member of Cypress Creek Methodist Church; and a U.S. Marine Corps flight instructor.  While he was a flight instructor, he taught John Glenn and Ted Williams. He was also a Registered Pharmacist with E.C.M. Hospital for 32 years. Jesse loved to tell stories and jokes.

 

Visitation will be Monday, March 12, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Mike Weldon and Rev. Mark Woodroff officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

 

Mr. Thornton was preceded by his parents, Johnny and Allie Thornton; and a sister, Mildred Thornton.

 

He is survived by his wife, Marvolene Reynolds Thornton; sons, Gary (Pamela) and Sidney (Cecille); a granddaughter, Samantha Thornton whom he loved to spend time with; and great-grandsons, Grayson and Hayden.

 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
