Dan Carter Weaver – Obituary

Dan Carter Weaver was born to Rassie and Letha Weaver in Florence, Alabama on December 4, 1941. He passed away on March 5, 2018 at his home in Haleyville. Dan was a 1960 graduate of Coffee High School in Florence. He then attended the University of North Alabama, playing football and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. He returned to UNA in 1978 to earn a Master of Arts degree. After trying out a variety of job opportunities, Dan settled into his career with Haleyville City School System in 1975 as a teacher and coach. He went on to serve as an Assistant Principal, Principal and then retired in 2002 after 13 years as the Superintendent of Haleyville City Schools. He was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ in Haleyville.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Douglas Weaver and his wife of 27 years, Judy Huffman Weaver. He is survived by his children, Holly Weaver Gibney (Jason) and William Carter Weaver and his grandchildren, Chase Michael Gibney and Anna Elizabeth Gibney. Other survivors include a host of close family and friends who provided for him a lifetime of wonderful memories.

A visitation will be held at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville on Saturday March 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A Graveside service will follow at Winston Memorial Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., with Andy Kizer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the Lion Legacy account at Haleyville High School or the American Cancer Society.
