US Army Major (Ret) Jay Meredith Spalding, 90, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday. Major Spalding was a decorated veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Viet Nam. He was co-owner and manager of Space Capital TV Service Co. in Huntsville for 21 years after retiring from the US Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Irene Eleanor Antkievicze Spalding, mother of his son and daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Lou Spalding; daughter, Alice Marie Spalding Pelletier (Milly Harmon) of Grover Beach, CA; son, David Jay Spalding (Mary) of Virginia; stepdaughter, Melissa Belcher (Bill); stepson, Jeff Hendrix (Sue), all of Huntsville; sister, Frances Joy Rose of Surprize, AZ; brothers, William Horton and Robert Horton, both of Surprise, AZ; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Garden.
