Mitchell “Phil” Sanders, age 66, of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Phil was born on May 24, 1951 to the late William and Dena Sanders. On October 27, 1980 he married his loving wife of 38 years, Gail “Dial” Sanders. Phil and Gail together had son, Jason Sanders and Daughter, Hollie Sanders. They have 4 wonderful grandchildren; Phil was a proud and loving father and grandfather. He was a route carrier for the Tennessean and an injection molding Engineer for Lasko and Teledyne. For enjoyment Phil loved to fish and watch Alabama football.
Phil is survived by his wife: Gail Sanders; children: Jason Sanders and Hollie Sanders; grandchildren: Austin, Brenon, Brely and Abigail Sanders; brother: Larry (Patty) Sanders and niece: Jeni Sanders. In addition to his parents Phil was preceded in death by his brother: Barry Sanders.
The Sanders family will visit with friends on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A Service will be held on immediately following visitation at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Austin Sanders, Brenon Sanders, Callaway Dial, Russell Dial, David Nichols and Dick Cartwright. Honorary Pallbearers are past and current employees of The Tennessean.
