Lucile Owen Smith was born to Robert and Nettie Owen on December 15, 1919, in Danville. She grew up in a “wonderful Christian family” with her brothers, Arthur, Alton and Dee. Recalling memoires of her Grandpa Aldridge, a circuit riding Methodist preacher was a favorite memory of hers.

Lucile married John Rolf Smith and they had two daughters, Linda Davis and Mary Beth Smith.

Life, for her, was centered around God, her faith in God, her precious family and her “church family” at Ninth Street United Methodist Church where she was a member for over 65 years. She was preceded in death by her husband and grandson, Ted Davis.

She is survived by her daughters, grandsons, Tim Davis, Michael Smith and Matthew Smith; granddaughters, Michelle Davis, Ashley Smith Patterson; five great-granddaughters, five great-grandsons, six great-great-grandsons and two great-great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown- Service Funeral Home Chapel and a service at 3 p.m. today March 7, 2018, with Reverend Randy VanLandingham officiating and burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons; great-grandson, Jonathan Davis, and nephews, Jim Owen and Larry McAbee.
