Alton “Bill” Eldridge Roberts – Obituary

Alton “Bill” Eldridge Roberts, 90, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at his home. He was born September 3, 1927 to the late Josiah Roberts and the late Ethel Cora Messer Roberts. He was a member of Fulton Methodist Church. He attended Banner Elementary School from 1933-1941. In 1946, he graduated from IAHS where he excelled in the sports of football, basketball, and baseball earning an award for “Most Valuable Athlete”. From 1946-1964, he was employed at F.K. Willis Furniture. In 1964, he purchased F.K. Willis Furniture which later became known as Roberts’ Furniture Store. He retired in 1982. In the past, he was an avid duck hunter and also enjoyed fishing.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday March 8, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home with Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home.
Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include his Wife, Sue Roberts, 3 Daughters, Sandra Davis of Fulton, Carol (Brad) Young of Brunswick, ME, Susanna (Jeremy) Lajeunesse of Knoxville, TN, 2 Sons, Tommy (Trudy) Roberts of Fulton, Alton (Liz McCarley) Roberts of Tishomingo, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Daughter, Mary Dement, Sister, Imogene Tschakert, half sister, Sybil Williamson, 3 half brothers, Oral Frost, Carmen Frost, and Johnny Frost.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Roberts, Jason Price, Heath Davis, T.J. Roberts, P.J. McCarley.
Memorials can be made to, Mt. Zion Cemetery, C/O Albie Mason, 1760 Doc Mason Road Golden, MS 38847
