Mary Faye Carr of Albertville, Alabama, was called to her heavenly home peacefully on March 3, 2018 at the age of 72. Her devotion to her family and to God supported her during this time and she was able to pass peacefully on through the gates of Heaven.  Faye was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Duvall of Huntsville, Alabama; son, Philip Newby: sisters, Susan Elrod and Ruth Duvall; and brother, Hugh Duvall.

She is survived by her husband, James Carr; son, David Carr; sister, Terry Duvall; brother, Ray Duvall; grandsons, Timothy Newby and Johnathan Newby; and several extended family members.

She loved her work as a secretary for Huntsville Hospital for years, and once ordained as a Reverend of the church she preached the Word of God to all who would listen.   Faye was a strong woman of God who loved to share the Light of the Lord to everyone. She is well known for the love and compassion she shared to anyone that crossed her path. Most importantly she shared a strong and unconditional love for family. She never let a day pass or take a moment for granted to tell her family members just how much she loved them and prayed over them.   Her favorite passages of the Bible came from Psalms, she would sing the praises of the Lord daily and talked to the Lord every moment she had. From the beginning of her life with James, their sons Philip and David, she encouraged and dedicated constant acts of selflessness to them, she raised them in the Light of the Lord, and encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Although Philip’s call to return to heaven was much sooner than to be expected, she continued the selfless acts of love and encouraged James and David to live their lives fully and in constant memory of Philip. Just as she would say now, she would ask that everyone remember her love, her passions, her joy in this world and celebrate life, cherish family, seek the Lord and loved ones. Words do not express just how magnificent Faye was to this world and the impact she made. She was truly an angel that walked among us.

Faye was kind, eager to learn the stories of those around her, powerful in prayer, strong in wisdom, and fierce with love. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing, feeling only a mere fraction of the love she poured out to this world.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

The family graciously declines any monetary donations at this time, but accepts floral arrangements, prayers, condolences, and memories.
