Ruth James – Obituary

Ruth James, 90, passed from this life to her heavenly home Mar. 2, 2018, at her home with her children by her side. She was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Lee County to the late Luther and Gracie Campbell. She was an active member of Golden Central Baptist Church where she had served her church as treasurer. Ruth was elected as an Alderwoman for the town of Golden where she lived for 70 years.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Mar. 7, 1 p.m. at Golden Central Baptist Church, Golden, Mississippi with Brother Matthew Fancher and Brother Jerry Ginn officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Mar. 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Mississippi will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two children, Robert James and wife, Mary Ann, of Florence, Alabama and Lisa James, of Fulton; three grandchildren, Chris James and wife Haley, of Madison, Alabama, Mitzi May and husband Bart, of Germantown, Tennessee, and Brittany McGee and husband Gavin of Fulton; six great-grandchildren, Chandler and Macie James, Gracie and Mollie McGee, and Parker and Spencer May; one brother, Dean Campbell and wife, Shelby; and one sister, Janna Chinn and husband, Terry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank James; her parents; and brothers and sisters, W.D. Campbell, Myrtle Grimes, Mildred Taylor, Reable Harris, and Betty Greene.

Pallbearers will be Danny Wylie, Larry Harris, Chris James, Bart May, Chandler James, and Gavin McGee. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Golden Central Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Golden Central Baptist Church.
