Richard “Ricky” Slayton, 59, died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at North Ms. Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. He was born April 7, 1958 in Sheffield, AL. He had worked for the Town of Belmont and was a member of Fairview Holy Church of Christ.

Services will be Sunday, March 4, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Haskell Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Holy Church of Christ Cemetery, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years – Debbie Slayton, Belmont, MS; two children – Aimee Hollingsworth (John) and Jason Slayton (Lydia); five grandchildren – Alissa, Jacob, Ryan, Joshua and Becca; three brothers – Phillip Slayton (Charlotte), J.W. Slayton (Janice) and Gary Slayton (Debra); one sister – Floie Mae Poole; sister-in-law – Lisa Mink; brother-in-law – Terry Elliott (Peggy) and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Wessley Slayton and Annie Mae Wells Slayton and five siblings.

Pallbearers will be Junior Hutcheson, Brian Lynch, Justin Slayton, Terry Slayton, David Shumaker and Chase Shumaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Hollingsworth, Johnny Poole, Kenny Poole and the coffee shop gang.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 3, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
