Erma Lee Phillips died on February 25, 2018, the day after her 83rd birthday in Mt Juliet, Tennessee, after complications from dementia. She was a native of Houston, Missouri, a member of First Baptist Church, Loretto, Tennessee and a former resident of Iron City and Loretto, Tennessee.

Erma Lee was predeceased by her husband Billy J. Phillips, her parents Homer and May Owen, brothers Lester and Paul Owen, and nephew Bruce Parker.

Erma Lee was a woman of great faith, having accepted Christ at a young age. She loved and lived to serve her Lord, her family and her church. A homemaker while her children were at home, she later worked as a caregiver and a certified nursing assistant. Erma Lee was known for her unlimited energy, her spotlessly clean home, her forthrightness in inviting others to church, her big, tight hugs and her steadfast devotion to living a godly life.

Despite advanced dementia, her last spoken words to her family were “I love you” and “God loves you.” Her children and grandchildren have been blessed by her legacy and example of loving faith, hard work and selfless service to others.

“Her children rise up and called her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Pro. 31:28-30
