Johnny Houston Stamps – Obituary

Funeral service for Johnny Houston Stamps, 81, of Hartselle, will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10:00AM at the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, AL with Father Ray Remke officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 5:30PM to 7:00PM at the church.

 

Mr. Stamps died February 24, 2018 Huntsville Hospital. He was born October 18, 1936 in Choctaw County to Roscoe Lee Stamps and Eddie Maude Allen Stamps. Mr. Stamps was Roman Catholic in his faith. He was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knight of Columbus. Mr. Stamps retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years as a Chief Petty Officer where he served on the USS Shenandoah AD-26; he also worked as a computer engineer for SCI Technology. Mr. Stamps was also a member of the Police Chaplain Corps for the Decatur Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Shelby Stamps; and one sister, Louise Rouse.

Barbara Stamps

 

Six Grandchildren:

Andrew Schein, Alison Schein, Caleb Stamps, Michael Stamps, Bonnie Stamps and Allen Stamps.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Catholic Charities USA.
