Asbury Scott (Scotty) Jones Jr. entered into eternal peace with his wife Peggy by his side on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at 4:17 a.m. at Hospice Family Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Scotty was born on Feb. 14, 1941, in Tuscumbia, Alabama and lived his entire life in Colbert County. He graduated from Florence State, worked at Ford Motor Company until its closing in 1982, and then worked at Norfolk Southern until his retirement. He met his wife Peggy at church, and together they raised three children. He had a passion for music; he was a member of the traveling quartet Believers in Christ in the 1970s. Until his passing, he was a member of Faith Church in Florence, Alabama as well as the music minister at Ford City Baptist Church, where his love for our Lord was evident through his beautiful piano playing and singing. He was beloved by all who knew him for his devotion to Christ and to his family. He never met a stranger and was always there to help those in need. Scotty leaves his loving memories to be cherished by Peggy, his wife of 49 years; daughters, Felicia Jones and Phyllis (Mark) Kimbrough; son, Bryan (Dawn) Jones; sister, Martha (Steve) Anderson; granddaughters, Chelsie Marlar, Kristi Marlar Hamm, Megan Jones, and Allie Jones; grandson, Chandler Kimbrough; and many loving extended family members.

A private family visitation will be at Colbert Memorial today at 4 p.m. with public visitation from 5-8 p.m. His life celebration service will be in the chapel at Colbert Memorial on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. with JD Harrison and Tommy James officiating. Pallbearers will be Chandler Kimbrough, Nick Hamm, Stephen Evans, Bradley Evans, Rick Rohling, and Josh Rohling.
