Harry Gene “Jay” Phillips Jr, 46 of Florence went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2018 after suffering for many years with heart trouble. The memorial service will be Sunday, February 25th at 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia with Tomme Foster, Sr. officiating.
Jay was born and raised in Colbert County and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing listening to music, playing pranks, telling jokes, and making people laugh. He also loved Alabama football and spending time with his family whom he loved with his whole heart.
Jay was a loving son, father, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry G. Phillips, Sr. and grandparents, Lloyd and Willie Tee Phillips and Tommie and Nettie Foster.
He is survived by his loving fiancé, Kim Wilson; daughter, Nicole Phillips; son, Caysey Gene Phillips (Emily); step-children, Manley, Sadie, and Tommy Wilson; mother, Mary Ann Smothermon (John); sister, Amber Werfel (David); nephews, Wyatt and Ethan Werfel whom he adored; special friends, Connie Cassel and Greg Phillips; aunts and uncles, Burlon Smith (Betty), Aubrey Smith ( Linda), Virginia Manley; Del Smith (Debbie), Jesse Foster (Brenda), Tomme Foster (Sara), Steve Phillips (Anita); and beloved cousins and friends.
