Lola Beatrice Potts Vess, June 2, 1925 – February 16, 2018
Visitation will be Monday, February 19th , from 4-7 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will be Tuesday, February 20th, at 11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Michael South of Highland Park Church of Christ will be officiating.
There will be a memorial service at Old Union Church of Christ, Castalian Springs, TN, Saturday, February 24th, at 6 p.m. with Brothers Stephen Russell and Wesley Skelton officiating.
Mrs. Vess was preceded in death by her husband Leland Vess, parents Charlie and Nettie Potts, brothers Ernest and William Potts, sister Mandy Parrish, and great granddaughters Rachel Faith and Leah Hope Skelton.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law with whom she lived for the past 5 years, Kay and Jim Coley, Castalian Springs, TN, two sisters, Callie King and Edna Smith, two grandchildren Denise Skelton and husband Wesley of Cleveland, TN and Michael Coley and wife Erin of Lebanon, TN. Great grandchildren Hannah Kate, Micaiah, Sarah Grace, & Noah Skelton,
She is also survived by sister-in-law Peggy Potts, of Killen, AL, and brothers-in-law Charles Vess and Harold Vess and wife Mamie, all of Muscle Shoals, sisters-in-law Stella Vess of Tuscumbia and Elsie Berryman of Byhalia, MS. along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Vess was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ. She worshipped with Kay and Jim at Old Union Church of Christ as long as her health permitted. She had been an active member of the Muscle Shoals Senior Center, participating in the AL Senior Citizen Games several times. She was a member of the Dorcas Class at Highland Park Church of Christ. For several years, she used her sewing skills to benefit others.
